Brand strategy for people, companies and ideas with consequence
VALENCE develops it.
The method, in one photograph
The latent image
After the exposure and before the developer, a photograph already exists on the film. Nobody can see it yet. Development does not invent the picture, it makes the one that is there visible.
A person or a company arrives with the image already formed, usually under a surface of what they were told to add. The work is to find it, take away the noise, and develop it until other people can hold it.
Four ways in
Strategy
Positioning for companies and ideas that have substance and a surface that does not show it.
Reputation
Personal branding for founders and leaders, built to outlast the content it uses.
Discovery
Content, PR and search, so the work is found by people who are looking and cited by systems that summarise.
Editorial
Long conversations, produced with the discipline of a magazine, under your name or about you.
Selected work

A tribal grain, repositioned as an international conversation.
Branding, digital marketing, PR

A cola built for a generation that questions the default.
Strategy, identity, launch, PR

An India, France and Sri Lanka co-production, from script to global stage.
PR, digital marketing

An Indo–Papua New Guinea film that became its country’s official Oscar entry.
Branding, PR
Founders, people who run charities and NGOs, artists, musicians and makers of cinema, each answering one word per issue. Written, slow and set like a magazine.

VALENCE, previously Copious Space. Set in Marcellus and Cormorant Garamond, with handwriting for the marginalia. Photographs are client images from VALENCE’s credentials, selected Pexels contributors’ work, and images generated for this prototype, to be replaced by commissioned work where marked. Fermata conversations are invented for layout.
